In the past 24 hours, the back and forth between Supreme and Tremaine Emory has been at the top of fashion news everywhere. It appears that the saga is just unfolding after the creative director claimed that “systematic racism was at play within the stucture of Supreme.” After Supreme spoke to BoF in a statement saying that the collection with Arthur Jafa was in fact, not canceled, despite Emory’s statement, the polymath took to his Instagram to reveal screenshots of DMs with Supreme to align for a statement.
In the DMs shared by Emory, he also posted screenshots of text messages from founder James Jebbia. With all these DMs on display, the public has weighed in and given their own opinions regarding how Supreme should move forward, also giving their two cents on Emory’s abrupt exit just after two seasons.
Take a look below at some of the reactions from fans across social media.

Re: Tremaine Emory x Supreme — I love Arthur Jafa, but why would you select artwork depicting hung slaves and that infamous pic of Gordon & his lashings for a white brand that mostly is marketed to white kids?

the comments on the BOF post about Tremaine Emory leaving Supreme due to systemic racism show that the white folks never really got “it”

Tremaine Emory dead wrong for wanting to move forward with a Jafa Supreme collab that commodified Black death, and then resigning & crying to us all that Supreme racist for canceling it
Bro what was your plan for when the collab released & we had (rightful) backlash? Disgusting.

so if i’m properly caught up here
Tremaine Emory wanted to put lynchings in a Supreme shirt, was told no, and then called Supreme racist as a direct result of that?

I get what Tremaine Emory was trying to do, even though the project was a good idea/ had good intent, it woulda been poorly executed
