As K-pop continues to win over the fashion world, Versace has become the latest high-level brand to tap into the South Korean music sphere, naming Stray Kids’ Hyunjin its latest global brand ambassador. In his new role, the boy band member, who holds a combined social media following of 72.3 million fans, will represent the Italian House at events and in promotional imagery, beginning with the Versace Holiday 2023 campaign, coming this November.
“I am delighted Hyunjin is joining the Versace family. I am constantly inspired by new voices defining culture around the world and for me Hyunjin has great new energy and creativity. I love his confidence and freedom of expression. He is a true Versace man,” said Donatella Versace, the label’s chief executive officer.
“I’m so excited to be starting my Versace journey as a global ambassador and to make beautiful moments together,” said Hyunjin. “I am both inspired and honored to play a part in the house’s truly amazing heritage, and that Donatella believes I have the Versace attitude. I’m filled with anticipation and can’t wait to experience the artistic synergy with her.”
Ahead of the announcement, Hyujin attended Versace’s “La Vacanza” fashion show in May, during which the brand unveiled its collaborative collection with Dua Lipa. The K-pop star also celebrated the brand’s Seoul pop-up opening, earlier this month.
Hyunjin’s appointment is only the latest in a slew of high-fashion-meets-K-pop partnerships. This year alone, Cartier brought on BTS’ Kim Taehyung (otherwise known as V); Loewe tapped NCT’s Taeyoung; Prada enlisted seven members of Enhyphen; Dior recruited BTS’ Jimin; Valentino signed on BTS’ Suga, and Givenchy snagged Taeyang, among several others.
