With the 2023 SEA Games now freshly behind us the nation is preparing to host the 2023 Para Games. What exactly are they though? What should we look out for and where can we expect medals?
What is the Para Games?
Mirrored after the Paralympics the ASEAN Para Games, which are being marketed as Cambodia 2023 is the 12 incarnation of the games, which are run for athletes and players who suffer from various disabilities.
Contrary to popular belief the para actually stands for parallel, rather than anything related to disability,
When will the 2023 Para Games take part?
The games are due to take place between June 3rd through 9th and unlike the SEA Games have much less events.
In total there are nine sports being represented at the games, which include sitting sitting volleyball and para swimming among others.
What to look out for at the 2023 Para Games and where might we win medals?
Some ports to look out for include blind football, where a bell is places in a ball, from where the players then follow the sound. Another sport where Cambodia are expected to do well is in Wheelchair Basketball, which has been heavily financed by Prince Foundation.
Cambodia has an unusually high amount of amputees related to the civil war and the ongoing efforts to de-mine the country. This has led to not only a large amount of investment, but also Cambodia performing particularly well in the various disciplines.

How can I watch the 2023 Para Games?
Much like the SEA Games tickets for the 2023 Para Games are free for all spectators and can be booked online, as well as picked up from various ticket offices.
Events tend to be less well attended than the SEA Games, so tickets are generally easier to get. Despite this tens of thousands of spectators and expected to both visit the country, as well a watch the games.
