AIA Cambodia, one of the leading life insurance companies in the Kingdom, continues to support the sport sector, becoming one of the first major businesses here to strike a sponsorship deal with the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC).

For starters, CAMSOC is in-charge of all activities related to Cambodia’s hosting of the Southeast Asian Games next year.

Under the deal signed with CAMSOC two days ago at the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, AIA Cambodia agreed to provide health and life insurance for Cambodian athletes.

“It will give the Cambodian national team peace of mind regarding financial security, and will make it possible for athletes to fully concentrate on their training in preparation of the games,” AIA Cambodia CEO Andrew Loh said.

“We will take advantage of this chance to strengthen our commitment to the long-term growth and advancement of our society and economy, added Loh in a press release sent to the local media. “It is also a welcome opportunity to introduce the globe to Cambodia’s warm, traditional and kind hospitality.”

The deal is aligned with AIA Group’s AIA One Billion Initiative, which seeks to improve the health and quality of life for one billion Asians by 2030.

“We want to assist Cambodians in leading healthier and better lives,”Loh stressed.

AIA Cambodia will also become a part of CAMSOC’s fundraising initiatives related to the upcoming Games. AIA Cambodia is also promoting Cambodia’s hosting of Southeast Asia’s biggest sports event to local and international audiences.

In this part, they will be working with PATHMAZING Inc, a company responsible for management and fundraising for the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games.

In October, CAMSOC and Pathmazing jointly launched KhmerCare, the first Cambodian open crowdsourcing platform. The launching coincided with the 200-day countdown to the next SEA Games, which Cambodia will be hosting for the first time in its history.

PATHMAZING CEO Steven Path also graced the latest signing ceremony, together with CAMSOC Chief Executive Vath Chamroeun.

“We are thankful for AIA’s first-coming sponsorship for the help. Providing insurance to athletes strongly motivates mental health to more sacrifice for champions,” the CAMSOC CEO said.

With AIA Cambodia taking the lead, it is very likely that more Cambodian companies, or even foreign ones, will strike their own sponsorship deals with CAMSOC and partners.

This is not the first time for AIA Cambodia to support the sports sector in Cambodia. AIA Cambodia is part of AIA Group, the largest life insurance company in the world by market capitalisation.

In October, ISI Dangkor Sen Chey FC, a team that plays in the Cambodian League 2, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AIA Cambodia, where the two sides agreed to work together to develop the club.

The newly-renovated stadium of ISI Dangkor Sen Chey FC along Phnom Penh’s Veng Sreng Boulevard was later renamed to AIA KMH Park under the deal.

Last year, Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League and AIA jointly announced their support to ISF Cambodia, a local NGO dedicated to helping underprivileged kids through football.
