Angkor City FC To Sign Two Starlets on Loan from Phnom Penh Crown

Angkor City FC

With the transfer deadline almost closed CPL 2 contenders Angkor City FC are set to sign two players from Phnom Penh Crown on loan, according to multiple sources.

The players in question are Sun Rozak and Tola Sun, who will both reportedly join for the the 2023-24 season.

Who are Sun Rozak and Tola Sun

Sun Rozak is a talented central-midfielder who has been part of the PPC academy, as well as having made senior appearances for the club in the League Cup, a competition Crown have won two years in a row.

With him being 24 years old it is expected he has been loaned out in order to play more first team football, something he should achieve at ACFC, who lack depth in the centre of the park.

Tola Sun is an extremely exciting 19 year old forward who as one coach put it “scores goals for fun”. At 19 he no longer qualifies for the planned under-18 league, with this again giving him the chance for regular first team football.

The prospect of him starting up front with ACFC’s Brazilian legend Bruno is certainly a mouth watering one and will hopefully lead to the goals that the club so desperately needs.

What are the loan deals between Phnom Penh Crown and Angkor City FC

This has not been made public, but Crown have had a long association with ACFC, going back to 2015 when they were known as Next Step FC. The club currently enjoy cordial relations through their general managers.

It is no known what the financial package will be, although it is understood the players can play against both their hosts senior and reserve sides.

Crown will take part in the upcoming Cambodian Super Cup and could potentially take a clean sweep of trophies this year, with the team mostly consisting of home grown talent.

How do loans work in Cambodia?

Not all that dissimilar to in other countries with many players moving each season under deals negotiated by clubs. This year though potentially marks the first in which the CPL 2 can be fully utilized in developing players.

Controversially to some stakeholders Visakha have loaned 7 players to Prey Veng, with many feeling that their relationship is too close.
