In an exclusive interview with BPVE enigmatic Angkor Tiger owner Akihito Kato has announced plans to build the club a new stadium ready for the 2024-25 Cambodian Premier League season.
According to Kato the plan is to build a 5,000 seater stadium by 2024, with the roadmap being to increase capacity to 10,000 within five years.
The plan is now being put into place after the club purchased 50,000 square meters of land, half of which has been set aside for the stadium, with the rest being set aside for both leisure and housing facilities, with Kato telling BPVE “We have the support of a number of great people such as National Assembly Member Mr Sok Thon who is looking to build up to 1,200 houses and luxury villas in the area. Essentially we want to not just build s stadium, but a Tiger Town that will help invigorate the local economy”.

The club were also sticking to their roots within the cryptocurrency market, with Kato adding that the club were planning to eventually issue a “Tiger Coin” through an Initial Exchange Offering (IEO), as well as a number of other innovative ways to help raise finances.

These include offering straight naming rights to the stadium, as well as the potential offer of naming rights in exchange for a long-term loan to Angkor Tiger FC, with Kato adding “We are very much open for business and anyone interested in being part of this project should get in touch”.
And as for the benefits to Siem Reap as a whole Kato was extremely confident stating “We are pursuing our dream to give the fans their own stadium. We also believe that the project will help not only drive more tourists to the area, but help the economy as a whole”.
Despite being the biggest club in Siem Reap, and indeed Cambodia Angkor Tiger currently rent the Hanuman Stadium, which is owned by the yet to be launched Siem Reap United FC.
