The Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), the governing body for the sport within the continent have kicked off their “Administrators Development Workshop” which is being hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The two day event, which aims to educate federations on how to better develop the sport in their respective countries is being attended by a number of ATF members. Attendees include the powerhouses of the Middle-East, such as Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, as well as of course Team Cambodia.
Said counties have been particularly successful at developing tennis, with Cambodia keen to both cooperate and learn from their experiences.


Team Cambodia recently competed at the highest level in their history at the Davis Cup, the so called “World Cup of Tennis”. You can read about their performance here.
The 2023 Administrators Development Workshop
The ATF Administrators Development Workshop officially began on Saturday August 19th 2023 and was hosted by ATF in collaboration with the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia (LTAM) at Park Royal Collection Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The workshop began with a welcome message to all delegates as well as an introduction of the national federations before welcome remarks by ATF President, Mr Kitsombat Euammongkol and host Mr. Mirzan Mahathir, President of the LTAM.
Over the following days a number of workshops were held, generally with the common aim of helping administrators with regards to the development of tennis within their nations.


Developing tennis in Cambodia and beyond
TennisCambodia were represented at the event by Secretary General, Rithivit Tep, and Treasurer, Leakhena Bun Ek. The federation have been key to the exponential growth that tennis has seen within the Kingdom over the last few years.
Not only have they seen success in the Davis Cup, but the nation also scored a slew of medals in the recently hosted SEA Games. They have also managed to forge a number of sponsorship deals, such as with leading sports apparel brand Desportol.
Cambodia were recently granted the rights to host the 2023 ITF Asian Junior Championship, which will be held at the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex from September 4th through 8th.
