Fresh from their stellar performance at the 2023 SEA Games the Cambodian women’s national team have beaten Laos 2-1 in the opening match for the Under-19 AFF Championship.

Cambodia entered the game as favorites, but it was Laos that scored scored the opening goal after just three minutes. Cambodia bounced back though with a goal from Chhit Sapheourn in the 21st minute.
Both teams were hen evenly matched until the 62nd minute when Chhit Sapheourn again came through and slotted the ball in to put Cambodia in the the lead.
Cambodia spent the rest of the game on the back foot, but the defense remained firm and they were able to hold on for the win.
This is the second time that Cambodias have competed in the women’s AFF Under 119 championship, with this being their first victory having only managed one point against Singapore at the 2022 tournament in Indonesia.
