The wait for what will happen in CPL 2 is apparently over, with an announcement expected today according to sources within the league.
Clubs in the second-tier have been left in limbo over the last few weeks, without recourse to sign players, or arrange for games.
So, what can we expect?
Possible Scenarios
A Mini League
5 teams playing each other 4 times? Not the most ideal of scenarios, but would be better than nothing/
Allow B Teams from CPL….
The most likely outcome, with the 4 clubs, plus Bati being joined by 3 reserve sides from the CPL. These are expected to be Crown, ISI and Visakha. Would likely play 3-4 times and potentially have playoffs.
And the regulations?
OK no one knows, but the big hope is that clubs are allowed a 4+1+1 foreigner quota, although it is expected to be less, perhaps 3+1+1.
The bigger question perhaps though is whether there will be any age caps, and whether senior clubs will be allowed to move players between the top and second-tier.
Hopefully all of these questions, as well as a fixture list could well be answered today.
