Boeung Ket FC

The season might be a way away yet, but we can still start thinking about who the next champions might be. In the next of our series we look at Boeung Ket FC, last seasons 4th placed club.

Boeung Ket FC recent form

Finished 4th in 2022, and were largely steady if unimpressive. Essentially never looked like they would win the title, nor like they would be relegated. Finished 10 points below 3rd and 10 points above 5th.

Were last champions back in 2020 and have been largely steady ever since.

Boeung Ket trophy haul

In my mind the Liverpool of Cambodia, play great football, have a good history, but in recent years just fall short. League wise their haul of 4 championships (2020 being most recent), 3 runners-up and one 3rd place finish puts them second on the historical league standings.

Cup wise they have appeared just twice in the Hun Sen Cup final, winning one and losing one, with their most recent appearance being when they came runners-up to Visakha last year.

Boeung Ket Stadium

The Cambodian Airways Stadium is without doubt one of the best within the Kingdom and has a capacity for around 2050 people. Also has a big gaping open area where fans can watch for free.

Great club shop, as well as often being used by ISI for their home games.

Who is the Boeung Ket Head Coach in 2023?

Newly appointed Singaporean Clement Teo who had a far from illustrious career in Singapore. Not much is known about him, with the success of the club going forward largely being related to how well he jells.

Best players at Boeung Ket

A steady squad as shown by them always being there, or there abouts. Some would argue that a lack of investment since their 2020 championship is what makes them a team on a downward rather than upward spiral.

Club captain, international and journeyman Chan Vathanaka is very much the crux of the team.

Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng 2023-24 Expectations?

Well past their best and while they finished a comfortable fourth last year there are now a number of other teams that are chasing at their heels. As things stand 4th place would be a dream finish.

The BPVE (Gareth Johnson) predication – 6th place…..
