Cambodia Heading Back to Davis Cup

Cambodia who were promoted last year are heading back to the tennis’s international Davis Cup with a new younger team, according to Tennis Cambodia.

The young tennis players will represent Cambodia at the tournament in Sri Lanka from July 24 to 31.

Known colloquially the World Cup of Tennis, this year will see 150 participating nations from throughout the globe, in what is considered the pinnacle of global tennis.

Who are Cambodia playing?

Playing in the higher group of the Asia/Oceania zone following their promotion they will playa against Iran, Malaysia, Jordan, Pacific Oceania, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and hosts Sri Lanka.

With the lowest ranking of all participants (92) many expect Cambodia to struggle in this years tournament. But those competing at least see it as golden opportunity to improve the game within the Kingdom.

The competition is being played in two round-robin groups. The top three will be promoted to group two and the two bottom teams getting relegated to group four.

Current aims for the team are there4fore retaining group three status, rather than promotion.

David Cup team kitted out by Desportol

The team are being kitted out UK sports apparel brand Desportol, who began supplying kit around the time of the 2023 SEA Games.

The lading brand are also kitting out Angkor City FC, as well as Soft Tennis Cambodia, whom they agreed a deal with last year.

The competition is set to conclude on July 31st, with the fate of the nation’s young tennis stars then being known.
