First blood of the 2023-24 season goes to Crown and anyone betting against them making a clean sweep of trophies is a braver person than I.

FH: Vishaka 0-0 PPC
A stalemate at half time with both teams failing to exert any real dominance in the game. The first ten minutes was played more like a royal rumble wrestling match with both teams keen to give the referee a hard time.
On 4 minutes Vishaka defender Khan was seen to elbow Thiva but was missed by all the officials. Apart from this incident the man in the middle handled everything superbly well. The first big chance fell to Mouzinho, the ball sat up nicely for him on the edge of the box and his strike was still rising towards the moon ten minutes later. It was a strike of a player keen to impress rather than a player confident in his own ability knowing he has nothing to prove to no one.
The chance shook Crown to life, Thiva hit two attempts wide and Shintaro hit the bar with a shot off balance at the far post. Just before half time Oleg and his staff were calling for a penalty, it didn’t look like one to me and I’m sure the referee got it right however given that I’ve now seen it four times maybe VAR should be coming in sooner rather than later. Maybe it was a penalty.

Half-time all square …
SH: Vishaka 1-1 PPC
The second half was much the same as the first to begin with. Both teams failed to stamp their authority. The breakthrough came just on the hour mark. Crown caught napping three times. Bastos capitalized on the first mistake, his cross was smashed against the post and Takmu was first to react and side foot home. Crown bought on Pisoth and the game would become more stretched at both ends of the field. Yudi, so influential for Crown, began to impose himself on the game, his pass down the flank was crossed into a crowded area and as three players went up for the ball the hand of one connected. Penalty!!! Yudi collected the ball and cool as you like converted, sending the game into extra time.

They had a big task and rose to the occasion..
ET: Vishaka 1-2 Crown

The clean sweep is on. Extra time kicked in and Crown were by far the better team opposing their authority and playing like a team that’s been and done it. The winning goal coming from Yudi free kick and put into the net by a combination of Vishaka defenders and Crown attackers. A long injury break followed but as the game wore on Crown were the most likely to do anything if note.
Vishaka ran out of ideas.
What Did We Learn?
You cannot bet against Crown. Even at 1-0 down they never looked like losing this game. They don’t panic. They simply do their thing, play they game and grind teams down.

MVP: Yudi.
The boy is simply a class act making everything tick.
