Ov Mal FC have won the Tiger Cup, the most prestigious and indeed highest paying tournament open to Cambodian futsal clubs.

The Tiger Cup, which has been running since 2017 represents the pinnacle of both professional and semi-professional Futsal within the Kingdom. Futsal being the indoor version of Association Football that is extremely popular in certain parts of the globe.

Tiger Cup Final 2023

The final round saw the top 6 teams play-off against each other in a double round-robin before Ov Mal FC and Down Town Sport qualified for the final.
In an entertaining match held at the Blue Sport Arena last Sunday Mal FC proved to be too much for Down Town Sport in a 7-5 victory. This means they not only win the cup, but also qualify for the regional AFF Club Futsal Cup, which pits the best of ASEAN against each other. Cambodia have yet to win a medal in the competition, which has been won six out of nine times by Thai sides.
Last year the Tiger Cup, which represents the highest level of both professional and semi-professional futsal within the Kingdom was won by the Blue Warriors, before their parent club Visakha FC withdrew funding.

Despite being popular throughout the world futsal is largely seen as poor relation to soccer within Cambodia, with there not only being a lack of facilities, but also prohibitions on players being able to play both the futsal and soccer codes at the same time.
