Prey Veng Football club are one of the most controversial teams in the league, having finished 5th in CPL 2 last year, yet still getting promoted.
The controversy of course does not just end there though, with many also accusing them of being too closely related to Visakha FC.
We have no opinion on this, but they currently have 7 players on loan from the club, so make your own mind up….

Prey Veng recent form
Finished 5th in the second tier last year, which put them at 13th in the whole league and of course behind some teams that will be either in CPL 2, or the third-tier this year.
Have looked decent in friendly matches though and have invested in players.
Prey Veng FC Trophy Haul
Won the Cambodian Second Division in 2020, as well as finished a commendable 3rd place in the Hun Sen Cup that year. Have yet to win a major trophy, with 5th place in CPL 2 not counted…

Prey Veng FC Stadium
One of the better of the regional stadiums and popular with the locals. Prey Veng Stadium has an official capacity of 1,200, but realistically more can view from the road.
One club along with PKR Svay Rieng where the players live in Phnom Penh and comment to work….

Who is the Prey Veng Coach?
Managed by the vocal Thongchai Rungreangles who like the rest of the coaching staff is from Thailand. Known as a bit of hot head on the bench.
Top Players

The current marquee player is striker Dauda Bortu from Liberia who joined this year from Bangkok. Of the team that finished 5th in CPL 2 last season attacking midfielder Thiha Zaw managed 2 goals in 2 games last season and will be one to watch last year.
Any of the 7 players on loan from Visakha could also prove to be helpful. Of these defender Rous Samoeun, who has 35 caps for Cambodia is probably the most high profile.
Prey Veng 2023-24 Expectations?
Ideally not coming last in the league, which they might well just manage. Will certainly not be going for the title.
