Football at the SEA Games – Cambodia are way off where they need to be
Let’s tart with the elephant in the room, Cambodia were god awful and threw away chance after chance too go through, despite the favorable draw. This though while annoying ignores the main point and that is we were not very good.
The final between Thailand and Vietnam, as well as our loss to Myanmar showed just how far behind the rest of the region that we are.
Indonesia we worthy champions
Indonesia did not play a single bad game, even after they had already qualified. They were greta against all teams in their group, as well as in the semi-final against a string Vietnam side.
They were also epic in the final and for all intents had won, before the very controversial Thai equalizer. And of Cours etc match finished 5-2 even after this. Overall they were get value to watch and the nation can be hopeful for its football future.
Volume in the game needs to be strapped out
People have joked that the Thai team were practicing Muay Thai during the final, but entertaining as it might have been these scenes are unacceptable. The main culprits need to face lengthy bans, or quite simply it will just happen again.
On the night in question the referee was impeccable, but more often than not this is not the case. Officials need to be much stricter when these things happen.
And the player of the tournament? Sananta – Indonesia

Indonesian forward Ramadhan Sananta who plies his trade for PSM Makassar was phenomenal throughout the games and scored a number of important goals, including a brace in the final against Thailand.
Indonesia will be hoping for big things from the player as he transitions to the full international side.
