Tickets for the opening two matches of the 2023 SEA Games football competition have reportedly all been taken up after thousands of people lined up at ticketing venues accrues the capital.
The opening day will see the Philippines take on Indonesia and hosts Cambodia take on Timor-Leste.
Free tickets for all
The rush on tickets came after several venues opened to grant tickets to the general public, with tickets now of course being free as per the ordinance made by the Royal Government.
This led to relatively chaotic scenes as football mad Cambodians sought to get their hands on the hallowed tickets in oder to see their teams opening match. Later games are not expected to be as busy, although it has thrown some doubt on the wisdom of providing the tickets completely free to fans.

Can I still get tickets to watch the Cambodia – Timor game?
The official page of the Football Federation of Cambodia reported that tickets had merely sold out “for the day”, with 5000’more up for grabs tomorrow 25th).
Remaining tickets can still be picked up at the following 4 locations:
- AEON Mall 1 = 1000 tickets
- AEON Mall 2 = 1000 tickets
- AEON Mall 3 = 500 tickets
- Eden Garden (Legend) = 2500 tickets
Look for the Official SEA Games Shop or Ticket Pick-up Booth. Fans are advised to come early to avoid disappointment.
Also the tickets that have been released do not include those issued to clubs, federations, media, nor things such as VIP boxes.
This means that while getting a ticket will always be possible if you know the right people, quite how this will play out in future, particularly if Cambodia go through is yet to be seen.
