The CPL welcomed UEFA to Cambodia this week to host a four day workshop for all clubs on all topics football. We caught up with Mr Ly, General Secretary at Next Step FC yo get his thoughts on how the workshop went.
How do you feel after completing the 4 day course by UEFA?
It’s a very good course for me and for all clubs in Cambodia. It’s an opportunity to learn and get more high level of course to improve our clubs and league. Thank so much to CPL for arrange this course, and thank to UEFA assist for bring professional professor to advice us. Thanks and I hope we can get another course in the future.
The course was to cover Governance, Financial (Income generation), Marketing, Match Operation, Financial (Budget Plan) & Football Development Plan. All requirements for clubs to have if they hope to attain club license. We asked Ly:
Which topic will benefit his club Next Step the most and which is most important for developing Cambodian football?
Both need to improve income generation and budget planning if to improve. The football development plan of all clubs is very different so it’s hard to see how football can develop if every club is doing their own thing their own way.
And finally we asked;
The CPL are doing a great job creating courses like this, do you think there is improvement in football here in Cambodia?
After studying this course, I think that if all the clubs and governing bodies put into practice what we learned we will see something new and improvement will be quicker for next generation of football environment in Cambodia.
