A review of the days action…
Italy opened the day with a heated encounter with Argentina. The game was played on a humid day at Eden Park and once again VAR playing a crucial role. Italy having two goals ruled out either side of half time before snatching the win late on with a header in the 87th minute.
Tournament masters Germany opened up against Morocco and steam rolled over them winning 6-0 and having two more goals disallowed by VAR. The Germans were in control from start to finish showing a style of play that should be feared by every team in the competition.
The evening was rounded off nicely with the Brazilians taking on Panama. Brazil took an early lead on 19 minutes when Ary Borges rose highest to make it 1-0. It would turn out to be a massive night for the Brazilian as she doubled the lead just before half time, set up a third and completed her hat trick to make it 4-0.

What did we learn?
The Germans gave the most convincing performance of the 4 favorites. USA, Sweden and England all opened with wins but everything will be fearful of Germany.
Ary Borges is on fire and looks hungry for more.
What’s coming tomorrow?
Colombia vs Korea will finish round 1 then it’s onto Group A round 2 with New Zealand and to clinch a place in the last 16 if the beat The Filipinas and Switzerland able to do the same if they can beat Norway.
