World Cup

Day Number: 2

A review of the days action…

Canada opened the day with a game against Nigeria. It was expected that the Canadians would open with a routine win but that wasn’t the case. A highly entertaining game that ended 0-0. VAR was at the center of the two main talking points first awarding a penalty that Canada missed and later making sure Nigerian, Abiodun, was given a red card.

Into the second game and we finally saw a game that went exactly as expected. The Swiss opened with a win over The Philippines. Gilou had a goal ruled out after 15 minutes that would have given the filipinas a great start but that decision knocked the Swiss into action and it was plain sailing from that point. Goals either side of half time giving the Swiss a needed good start.

The third game of the day saw Spain smash Costa Rica. A 3-0 scoreline could’ve been 8 or 9. Down missed a penalty and had a goal ruled out.

What did we learn?

Group A is going to put all of my predictions to shame with it’s unpredictable start.

VAR is going to have a big impact on this world cup. Not seen so many penalty misses in a tournament ever.  3 out of 4 missed today.

What’s coming tomorrow?

The big guns are coming. England open against Haiti and the USA play Vietnam. Japan play Zambia and China get underway against Denmark.

Killing It or Having A Shocker?

So many penalties being missed. Shocking.

#killingit 1 – 1 #havingashocker
