Day Number: 6

A review of the days action…

Round 1 came to a close with the Colobians winning comfortably 2-0 thanks to goals from Usme and Caicedo. Both scored just before half time and despite a spirited second half display the Koreans couldn’t find a way back.

The co-hosts had a chance to book a spot in The knockout rounds if they could beat the Filipino girls. The Kiwis shocked the world when they opened with a 1-0 win over Norway, so many off us expected this to be a straight forward win.

The Philippines, making their world cup debut, have blown this group wide open and now it’s anyones guess which two of the four go through.

The last game is the day for the past three days as been a bore draw. Two nights on the bounce 0-0 and it has to be said that today’s between Switzerland and Norway was worse than France Jamaica.

Norway have been poor and the Swiss the same. New Zealand and the Philippines to go through would be amazing.

What did we learn?

The Philippines are not here to make up the numbers.. Colombia could go far if they get a some luck with the draw.

What’s coming tomorrow?

Group C should be wrapped up tomorrow when Spain take on Zambia and Japan take on Costa Rica. Both expected to win and that will put them both through  The final game of the day is the Irish taking on Canada.

Killing It or Having A Shocker?

Get in there The Philippines… !!!
