England need to be better…

Day Number: 3

A review of the days action…

The first game of the day saw tournament favorites USA dismantle Vietnam. Sophia Smith scored two and made one and stole the show as the USA bombarded Vietnam with attack after attack. To be fair to the Asian side we could expect nothing else and they defended superbly, the fact it was only three says a lot.

Japan, dark horses for this competition, started against Zambia and demolished them. This was always going to be a one sided games but I’m sure no one could’ve predicted a 5-0 scoreline.

England got off to a winning start albeit an unconvincing win over Haiti. It took a penalty on 28 minutes to be retaken twice to give the European champions a winning start. They will need to be better to beat China and especially Denmark.

The final game of the day was between the two just mentioned ending with the Danes taking a 1-0 win. The game was a drab affair with both teams cagey and looking like both were happy to draw this one, and then play cat and mouse with goal difference. Both are expected to lose to England and beat Haiti. However in the 92nd minute a header from Jorgensen gave the Danes advantage meaning China now need a miracle.

USA fans cheering their win…

What did we learn?

The USA are here and it will take something special of top spot. VAR is still playing a massive role in this competition and another day of shocking penalty misses.

What’s coming tomorrow?

Sweden will take on South Africa before the Dutch play Portugal she the day will be finished with France taking on Jamaica.

Killing It or Having A Shocker?

More penalty misses…  England starting slow, both Asian teams losing. #killingit 1 – 2 #havingashocker
